I’m Bringing 90’s Back

image image image image image image image

Aloha Friday! Let’s get this weekend started!

I’m having a bit of fun with some 90’s fashion today…literally. This fun plaid mini that I’m wearing, I’ve had since 1997! Can I call it vintage yet? My mom bought it for me from Nordstrom when I was a pre-teen, and I’ve loved the store ever since! My acid washed jean jacket and favorite heels of the moment pull the look together.

What do you think? Do you have any clothes in your closet from the 90’s? Let me know in the comments below!

If I Were Cold

This is the first winter that I have ever experienced, that feels like an eternal summer. And although I do not miss the cold one bit, it’s fun seeing what people that are cold around the world are putting on. So if I had to be cold, you might find me wearing looks like these.

image image image image image image imageGood afternoon loves! Sorry for the late post, but better late than never!

I’ve been really into  monochramatic looks lately. And as much as I love black, grey is close behind. This all grey look that I’m wearing was really fun to put together. It’s the perfect combo of dressy/casual. The sweater that I’m wearing, I actually purchased last year during my birthday trip to New York, at The Market NYC.  I’ve gotten gobs of compliments on this outfit, particularly with my sweater. I have to agree, as this is one of my favorite sweaters ever! Lucky for me, it’s one of a kind, but I did my best to give you a similar style if you’d like to try to put a similar look together 🙂

image image image image image image image image image image imageHappy Monday loves! I can’t wait for this week to go by because my parents are coming to visit me next weekend, and they will be here for a whole week! I already have a fun-filled week planned for them, so it’s a countdown until they get here!

This last weekend was absolutely beautiful here on the island, so I made sure to take full advantage. My husband worked overtime, but that didn’t stop my girls and I from getting out of the house and heading to Kailua. I can’t seem to get enough of this beach. I know I should be venturing to other ones so I can make a better judgement if it’s really my favorite, and I do plan on it eventually, but this one just keeps luring me back!

I was feeling sporty, so I wore my Lululemon boogie bottoms and stole my husband’s hat for the day. I mean, he wasn’t there to wear it, so someone had to do it, right?  My girls and I even ended up playing catch with the football they brought to the beach. I guess I was dressed perfectly for the occasion!

The Sweet Struggle

I have a horrible sweet tooth. I get if from my mama. For example, when it comes to eating cake at a wedding or a birthday party, I want a corner piece…you know, the one with the most frosting. And I don’t mean some light, whipped frosting. I mean rich and full of sugar. If you think that it is too much, then I think it is just enough.

The past couple weeks, I have been trying my very best to lower my sugar intake. This is no easy feat, and I feel as if I’ve been failing miserably. I came across an article however, that offered a recipe for high protein cookie dough treats. I tried it out, and it’s actually pretty good. Don’t get me wrong. On any given day, I would much rather eat my own cookie dough from scratch (after all it is the best cookie dough you’ve ever tasted!), but this seriously takes the edge off.

So whether you are working on your summer body,  planning a vacation that you want to look good for, or you’re just trying to make small efforts to be a healthier you, I thought I would share the info with you so you can help yourself make strides in the direction of a healthier you 😉

January Beauty Faves: Detox Edition

Happy Friday! I’m so excited to share this post with you today! While thinking about what beauty products I wanted to share for the month of January, I thought, why not fill you in on how I’m detoxing my skin, so you can start your year off fresh too!

Since having my oldest daughter, I have struggled with adult acne. I know that I’m not alone in this battle, as many other adults share the same struggle. The products I’m going to show you below have really helped to clear my skin, and I hope that others might benefit from them as well!

  1. Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. Healthy skin starts from within. When I wake up, I mix 1-2 Tbs of this apple cider vinegar with 8oz. of warm water and drink it. It helps to detox the system. Although it has a pungent taste, it has really amazing health benefits! You can find this product at your local grocery store.

2. Organic coconut oil. Coconut oil is so amazing for you. Most know you can cook with it and that it’s great for your skin, but did you know that it also works as a makeup remover? Every evening I take about a tsp. of coconut oil and apply it directly to my dry skin, right over the top of my makeup. I then massage it in circular motions until all my eye makeup is loosened up. I know this sounds like a greasy crazy mess, but stick with me for my next step! Coconut oil contains anti-bacterial agents, so it will actually help with acne.

3. Cetaphil. So at this point, your face is covered in coconut oil. Now, wet your face with warm water and take a pump of Cetaphil and start to massage that into the skin. After cleansing for a minute, rinse thoroughly. I always follow up with one more round of cleansing with Cetaphil. This product is gentle, non-irritating, and won’t dry out your skin. When you finish cleansing, you will notice that your skin feels perfectly moisturized from the coconut oil. Because of this, I skip adding moisturizer.

4. Indian Healing Clay. Finally, I apply this Indian Healing Clay mask once a week. You mix equal parts of the clay with apple cider vinegar (which you already have!), and if your skin is very sensitive, you can dilute it with water. You will actually feel your skin pulsate!

I hope you will be able to benefit from these tips as much as I have! Do you have any skin secrets? Please share them with me in the comments below!

imageimage image image imageHappy Humpday! I hope your week has been going well! I personally have gotten crazy amounts of personal tasks accomplished, including getting through all but 3 of my emails. That is progress considering a few weeks ago, I had over 4200! I’m pretty much feeling on top of the world right now! With that being said, let’s jump straight to my look.

I did a little denim on denim styling for today and paired it with my favorite new heels. I felt like doing something a little different with my hair as well, so I went for a triple bun look. It was super easy to do and kept all my hair back out of my face, all while looking fun and interesting.

What do you think of this look?

Top 5 Looks from the Golden Globes

My favorite part of red carpet events, is without a doubt, seeing the different looks that the celebrities are wearing.  The ways they are wearing their hair often brings inspiration for the way people will wear their hair for weddings and other special events for the year. As far as the dresses go, what girl doesn’t love gazing at dazzling gowns?!

These are my top 5 picks for the gowns at this year’s Golden Globes. Enjoy!
