Just a little magic and a bit of sparkle for your weekend <3
“All it takes is faith and trust…and a little bit of pixie dust. Now, think of the happiest things. It’s the same as having wings!”
Growing your hair out. I think it’s safe to say that most girls have gone through this dreadful process at least once in their lives. You get an adorable pixie or short bob and everything is all fine and dandy until you decide that once again want long flowing locks.
The good news for you is I am a pro when it comes to going from short to long, as I have done it numerous times, and I’m going to tell you how you can do it without going bored out of your mind!
While your hair is growing, it can get really boring looking at the exact same shape every single day. By playing with different braids, ponytails, buns, and twists, you’ll be able to bring your creative side out and help pass the time.
Tired of having dishwater brown hair? Add some light pieces! Feel like you need more depth? Richen up that color! If you’re a blonde already and you’re feeling bold, why not put a temporary vivid color over the top? With color you feel good about, it will make having that in-between length hair so much better. Just make sure not to make too drastic of a color choice that you would want to change again soon. Coloring your hair too much can result in enough damage that you’ll end up having to cut what you just grew!
3. Add bangs.
This one has been a life saver for me on more than one occasion. For those of you that are obsessed with cutting your hair but are desperately trying not to touch the length or again if you’re just bored out of your mind, bangs give a completely different look to any style. And the best part is you can decide how aggressive you want to be with them. Long, short, heavy, blunt, piecey, there are so many options!
4. Have an inspiration board.
This is key for those moments you’re weak. Your friend just got a really cute cut, or your favorite celebrity just chopped her hair. It’s hair and it grows. I’m not going to stop you if you want to change your mind. BUT if you’re really trying to commit yourself, having a board to refer to just might be the reminder you need that long braids, ponys, and beachy waves can soon be yours.
5. Play with your makeup and wardrobe.
One of my favorite things about hair is that by changing it, you can completely transform your look. So what do you do when you can’t change it? Switch up your makeup and your clothes. Wearing fun mascara or a bold lip can more than distract from blah hair! Clothing too! Go more bold with your style. Try a new look you’ve been dying try. You’ll be surprised that by making that extra effort to dress up your face and wardrobe, your hair is ok taking the backseat for the moment.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you’re feeling lucky today because I’ve got a charm you’ll thank me for later!
Today is not only St. Patrick’s Day, but also my friend who additionally is one of my most favorite makeup artist’s birthday! When it comes to makeup and beauty tips, this is your girl. Shanie’s experience ranges from working at a 5 star salon, to freelancing and having her work published in Seattle Bride, Santa Barbara Magazine, 100 Layer Cake, Trumpetbird productions, and much more. If you ever have the opportunity to book an appointment with her, I advise you to jump on it.
Shanie has a wonderful website where you can stay up to date on her work and get practical and extremely helpful advice to meet your makeup needs. I’m always able to take away something new that I didn’t know before with each post that I read. I love that!
As you have most likely picked up on, my hair has been many colors…I mean many. I’ve managed to get away with it by making sure I have frequent trims and by doing lots of conditioning treatments. I really baby my hair. However, over the weekend, a stylist here on the island, did not realize the condition of my hair and sadly fried my ends as I was being prepped for a film that was shot here.
The next morning I knew I had 2 options: 1. Give myself a pixie cut, or 2. Give myself bangs and layers. I obviously opted for 2, as I so long to have flowing tresses again!
The good news is my bangs should grow out gracefully and the rest of my hair fits very nicely into a ponytail (which I plan on wearing until my hair grows enough to be fixed further!). What do you think of my bangs? Did I do a good job salvaging my hair? Let me know in the comments below!

Living in Honolulu, it’s very common to see soldiers that are based here walking around. I think of my grandpa who served in WWII when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He passed when I was a baby, so I have no memories of him other than photos. Every year my family would remember him on this day, and like any other holiday or event, it gave my grandma another reason to keep his memories close. It’s been a couple months since she passed now, and today my grandma is able to celebrate this holiday with him. I know they are happy.

dream with the dreamers and invent things you never knew you had in you. think with the thinkers and discover ideas that mold who you are. smile at strangers and make friends that last a lifetime. laugh with friends and let those memories burn through your heart. travel with travelers and explore a life beyond your imagination. love only one, and grow old with your best friend. let these things bring fire to your soul. so when you look back at your life, you’ll have no regrets. and you can leave this place better then when you found it.
Have a great weekend!

Hi lovelies! Today I want to share a little hair inspo with you!
Last month, I may have alluded greatly to the fact that I was obsessed with Here Leger’s Spring/Summer 2016 show. The hair for the show was definitely at the top of my list from all that I saw. I just simply adored it!
Using my daughter as my muse, I’m going to show you a little step by step of how to recreate this look for yourself! It’s a piece of cake!
Start with a deep side part and texture in the hair. My daughter has natural curl and I chose to leave that texture in her hair for the style.
As you work your way around the side of the head, make sure that you leave out some wispy bits around the hairline. You want it to look soft and airy, not overly done.
Isn’t it beautiful?! I can’t wait until my hair is long enough to do this to! Until then, I’ll just have to play with my daughter’s hair! What do you think?
You may have noticed over my last few posts that my beautiful silver hair was beginning to fade on me. I can’t complain too much though. It did last me an entire month before I just couldn’t handle it anymore.
The problem that I face now that I’m 3000 miles away from my stylist is, when she’s not in town to take care of my head, I have to fend for myself! And since my options were; a) be homely for another month or b) get crazy and attempt to retouch it on my own, I opted for the latter.
This is the first full color application that I have ever done by myself, and I have to say, I think I did a pretty smashing job! What do you think?

Okay! This video was a special request from one of my clients back in Washington state.
If you have a bob and your goal is tousled, messy waves, this video is for you! The entire process takes less than 15 minutes, and that’s with me explaining the products I used and my method. So no excuses that you don’t have time to beautify your hair!
Make sure and give me a shout out if you find this tutorial helpful to you. And if you want to see me demo anything else, leave me a comment below and I will do my best to answer your requests!
