Winter Blues and Mermaid Hues

Happy Monday loves!

My parents came to visit me this last week, so I made sure to take advantage of my momma’s hair skills while she was here, and got her to give me a mini makeover. My hair had faded out, and I was slipping deeper and deeper into a hair slump. She gave me a blue hue that I had been coveting for a while, with Matrix Watercolors.

My new look reflects my inner mermaid spirit and matches the ocean I’m surrounded by. What do you think?

More Sprinkles, Please

Happy Aloha Friday! This post is sure to send you sparkling right into the weekend.

Glitter roots is a trend that we’ve seen this year, and I love it. I’ve yet to try it out on myself, so I thought I’d try it on my doughnut loving daughter. After all, she always goes for doughnuts with sprinkles. Now she has her own doughnuts on her head.

I may have had a little too much fun doing this, and I can promise you that I will be playing with glitter in hair much more! What do you think of the glitter hair trend? Would you rock it? Let me know in the comments below!

Transformation Tuesday: A Little Pink Me Up

image image imageHi loves! I can’t wait for you to see my latest creation!

My girls got out of school 2 weeks ago and they have been begging me to color their hair pink and purple. I told them that I’d do it in June if they were good for the rest of the school year, and they could have it for summer. They kept their end of the deal, so it was time for me to deliver.

Now, even though I’m a hair stylist, I have a personal conviction to keep my kids “kids”as long as possible. They have the rest of their lives to be grown ups, so I’ve been against altering their hair until they are teenagers at least! But thanks to Matrix, there is a product to meet both our needs.

Color Graphic Lacquers come in 8 different shades and are a true semi permanent hair color, lasting about 12 shampoos. If you use these colors over pre lightened hair, you will get much more intensity. However, I did not want to do anything permanent to my girls’ hair, so I put the color onto their virgin hair.

I mixed magenta and light pink for this look above and I think it turned out so pretty! I love how her sun kissed pieces have now become pretty pink highlights! By the time school starts again, she’ll be back to herself. I say that’s a win win 🙂

May Beauty Faves

Happy Humpday! I’ve got some amazing beauty products to share with you this month, so let’s get to them!

  1. Matrix Style Link Mineral Play Back. Matrix has been killing it this year with their products. Being that I already was in love with the Style Link product line, I was eager to get my hands on their new mineral products. This dry shampoo has a great feel to it, as well as easy application and a wonderful smell!
  2. Circle of Friends Chocolate Shampoo. If you have kids (or you’re a kid at heart) this product line is so fun! I want to highlight this particular product because I’m so impressed with it’s performance on my children’s crazy curly hair. They love it because it smells like chocolate pudding, and I love it because of the incredible shine and control it gives their hair.
  3. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye. I recently came across this eye cream and from the first time I sampled it, I was hooked. The texture feels amazing and I love how it makes my eyes look! I also like wearing it during the day. My makeup lays really nicely over it.
  4. Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. A few weeks ago I saw a video posted by Kandee Johnson about this foundation. Take a look at it and you’ll see why I was instantly sold! I purchased it as soon as I could and I’ve been loving it! Thanks Kandee!

I Said Yes…AGAIN

Last week, I shared with you that my 10 year anniversary was on New Year’s Day. The event has now come and gone, but I would love to share a bit of what happened that evening with you!

I’ll start by jumping straight to the evening…you know…the surprise part. After I finished getting ready, we were off to a mystery restaurant. Upon arriving, it was unveiled that we were dining at Azure in Waikiki. Our reservations for two, led us out to a beautiful patio right on the beach.

When we had finished our meal, Ben asked our waiter to take a photo of us over by the palm trees. After a successful snapshot, he asked our server to take just one more. He then proceeded to tell me the most beautiful thing I could hear, and got on his knee to ask me for 50 more years together! Naturally, I said yesssss! I about died when I saw that he got me a black diamond, which I’ve made comments about, but never thought he was listening to me!

The photos aren’t the best since it was so dark out, but I’m so glad that the moment was captured. It was truly one of the best moments of my life!

To style my hair, I used Matrix Style Link Smooth Setter and blew it dry smooth. I then sprayed Matrix Style Link Heat Buffer through my hair before curling my hair with a 3/4″ iron, keeping all the curls going in the same direction. When I finished curling it, I brushed my hair for about 20 minutes (no joke!) and smoothed Matrix Oil Wonders Amazonian Murumuru Controlling Oil through my mid-lengths and ends. The Style Link Heat Buffer has a light hold factor to it, which I found to be the real deal, because my hair held the same style from Friday until Monday!

I’m so happy with how my whole look came together! What do you think?

October Beauty Faves

Last month I did a post on my beauty faves of that moment, and it was such a hit, I’m going to bring you one each month! Let’s dive right into this month’s picks!

  1. 10-IN-1 Renewal System Hair Masque: Do you remember the scrub I was obsessed with last month? I attempted to brush the surface of this scent’s magnificent aroma. It got me so bad that I had to buy the hair masque! This is a big one for me since I’ve never purchased a hair product that’s not salon approved (sorry mom!). I’m not sure if I just love the smell so much that I want it to be amazing or if it really is amazing, but my hair feels like butter every time I use it. For now I’m giving it a big 2 thumbs up!
  2. MAC Gingerly blush: This blush is a new purchase for me and I’m loving it for fall. The hue is just a tad darker and more ginger if you will (lol), than my typical peachy pink shade. It might be a long time before I want to change blush colors again!
  3. Atelier Rose Anonyme Extrait Ecrin Absolue: I pride myself on many things, but at the top of my list are my abilities to find tasty food and delicious smells. This perfume has to be one of my favorite smelling fragrances to date. And although I’d like it to be one of my staple scents for the rest of my life, like everything I seem to fall in love with, it’s limited, so if you want it, get it now! (P.s. Christmas gifts for your ladies, all you men out there!!)
  4. Matrix Style Link Heat Buffer: Heat protection is my friend and it should be your friend too. If you haven’t purchased a heat protector for your hair, this is a great one!
  5. Morgan Taylor Need For Speed: Let’s be honest. Who has time to sit around all day, waiting for your perfectly manicured nails to dry? Not me! Help me help you, and snag yourself a bottle of this quick-dry polish. The best part; you will be able to use the entire bottle without it thickening. Now that’s getting the best bang for your buck!

Happy shopping!

Top Hair Looks for Fall/Winter 2015

It seems crazy that fall is just around the corner, but alas, it is. The main excitement that fall brings to me along with the rest of the fashion world, are all of the quickly approaching fashion weeks. In honor of the new season upon us, I wanted to do a recap of some of my favorite hair that I styled in March for Vancouver Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2015

The first three looks are definitely the most wearable, but I find the forth so beautiful as well. Much of the hair was very easy and effortless such as tousled waves and ponytails, as well as the bohemian look with the head chain. Then there were a few sculpted looks such as the victory rolls and chic buns.

I used Matrix Style Link on all the models I styled. It really is such an easy to use product that is not only great for stylists, but fantastic for clients as well.

What is your favorite look? Let me know in the comments below!
