Winter Blues and Mermaid Hues

img_8856 img_8898 img_8896 img_8899 img_8897

Happy Monday loves!

My parents came to visit me this last week, so I made sure to take advantage of my momma’s hair skills while she was here, and got her to give me a mini makeover. My hair had faded out, and I was slipping deeper and deeper into a hair slump. She gave me a blue hue that I had been coveting for a while, with Matrix Watercolors.

My new look reflects my inner mermaid spirit and matches the ocean I’m surrounded by. What do you think?

10 Active Dates

A couple months ago my husband and I decided to try something new. Every month, we would make sure to have at least 1 date, and we would take turns planning what we would do. So far it’s been really fun and I’ve enjoyed the creativity of our outings!

Our latest date was a 13 mile bike ride. We rode from our house clear down to the end of Waikiki and back. My husband planned this date, and he hit it out of the park! It was the perfect day!

If you like this idea that we are doing, here are 10 active date ideas that you can try with your significant other. Best of all, most of them are free!

image

  1. Go on a bike ride

This date made me feel like a kid again! You can even race each other if you’re competitive 🙂

image

2. Go on a hike

There is nothing like unplugging from everything around you and just getting out in some fresh air. Studies have shown that hiking reduces stress you and you’ll have fun adventuring together.

3. Explore your city

Have you ever played tourist in your own city? Walk around and see if there are any shops, restaurants or cafés you’ve never been to before.

image

4. Pick your own apples

If you live near any U-pick orchards, this is a must-do activity! There is nothing like fresh fruit right off the tree! You’ll have healthy food for your week, or you can be naughty and make an apple crisp or pie.

5. Go on an evening walk

Finished with dinner and getting ready to Netflix and chill? Put the remote down and go on a stroll around the neighborhood first. You can talk about your day, and burn a few extra calories before you veg out the rest of the night.

image

6. Go sledding

This is another one of those activities that brings out the kid in you. And its really quite surprising how worked out you feel after a few hours of trekking up and down a snowy hill.

7. Do a corn maze

This one will get your minds and your adrenaline going. Plus if you’re a scardy cat like me, you’ll be forced to hold each other the entire time for fear of your life.

image

8. Go ice skating/ rollerskating

Remember couples skate at the rink when you were younger? It’s still as fun 🙂

image

9. Go find and cut your own Christmas tree

This is one that I’d like to do at some point, but I’d have to live on the mainland to do it, since there’s a shortage of snowy mountains here. I just think it would be romantic, fun, and full of holiday cheer.

10. Hit the gym

There’s just something about working out together. You push each other to be better and you feel better and look better afterward!

Lesson Learned

This tale begins with a dress:

About a year ago I came across the most adorable LBD on Nasty Gal. I had to have it. But there was one problem…it was sold out! Terrible, I know.

I contacted customer support to ask if they would restock  the dress and found out that they sometimes bring back popular items, but I would need to continue checking back. I did continue to check back pretty religiously for the first couple months, and then about 1 to 2 times a month afterward. No luck. 🙁

Now comes my downfall. I found an image of my ever coveted dress online, but the head of the model was cut off in the photo. Curious, I went to the website to see what it was about. The site was called YOYOMELODY.  I knew it was too good to be true and that it was risky, but the price was so inexpensive that I decided just to order it.

The dress I’m wearing below is what I received. Luckily I don’t hate it, but I also don’t love it. And you’ll never guess what! Days after I got this dress in the mail, I discovered that Nasty Gal had brought the dress I wanted back, but it sold out again!! Why me?!

Here is the image of what the actual dress looks like from Nasty Gal.

I currently have myself on a wait-list for this LBD and my fingers are crossed that I can have it soon!

Have you ever fallen for a bad knock-off, or any knock-off for that matter? I’d love to hear your story in the comments below!

Extraordinary

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage“Hardship often prepares an ordinary person for an extraordinary destiny.”  – C.S. Lewis

Think about it. Everyone that has done something great, I mean really great, has had to go through some sort of hardship to get there. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like hardships.

Here is what I do know. Every hardship that I have gone through has shaped me into who I am today. They have made me stronger and more appreciative for what I have. God has never failed me and He’s never left me. Even as a go through a bit of a foggy season now, I trust that He has my best interest in mind. My destiny can’t be anything other than extraordinary with Jesus by my side.

Shoots

image image image image image image image image image image imageHappy Monday loves! I can’t wait for this week to go by because my parents are coming to visit me next weekend, and they will be here for a whole week! I already have a fun-filled week planned for them, so it’s a countdown until they get here!

This last weekend was absolutely beautiful here on the island, so I made sure to take full advantage. My husband worked overtime, but that didn’t stop my girls and I from getting out of the house and heading to Kailua. I can’t seem to get enough of this beach. I know I should be venturing to other ones so I can make a better judgement if it’s really my favorite, and I do plan on it eventually, but this one just keeps luring me back!

I was feeling sporty, so I wore my Lululemon boogie bottoms and stole my husband’s hat for the day. I mean, he wasn’t there to wear it, so someone had to do it, right?  My girls and I even ended up playing catch with the football they brought to the beach. I guess I was dressed perfectly for the occasion!

Can’t Stop Me

image image image imageshe was fierce, she was strong, she wasn’t simple. she was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. she always had something to say. she had flaws and that was ok. and when she was down, she got right back up. she was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best. she was unstoppable and took anything she wanted with a smile.

The Beach Missed Me

image image

image

image

imageIt’s been about a month since I last went to the beach. Can you even believe it?! Life has just been so busy, I haven’t had a moment to simply go and enjoy it. I was beginning to wonder if the beach missed me.

Yesterday, I made a point to have a beach day with my girls since they are on fall break and I had the day free. We went to Ala Moana being that it’s the closest beach to our house. It was simply wonderful. I even found a coconut shell. If that’s not a reason to be happy, well, then I don’t know what is!

Have a fab weekend my lovlies!
